As one of Rain's producers, I can say without hyperbole that Rain is the most hardworking filmmaker I have had the pleasure of working with, willing and able to meet any deadline and surpass any expectation. When Rain commits to a project, she gives it her entire being, elevating it to its highest potential and nurturing it from the earliest stages through the very last breath. She brings incredible empathy and honesty to her process, making connections with people and their stories in ways that are truly profound.
She is a unique and exciting filmmaker in her ability to incorporate both underrepresented stories and groundbreaking visual style. Her first short film was a fun, action-packed short film about a sexy double-agent bride. She followed it with UNDERPASS, a film dealing with the legacy of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge by blending live action and animation. I had the pleasure of screening the film in Hong Kong, and after the screening, I was bombarded with students both touched by the subject matter and enthralled with the visual style of the film.
Finally, collaboration with Rain has been one of the true joys of my life, and a standard by which I hold all other partners. Her organization and work ethic are a touchstone for any project she is involved with, inspiring her crew to give 100%. With her creative team, she is truly open, generous and inclusive. I know that she has dozens of creative partners, including me, who would cherish the opportunity to help bring her vision to the screen.
