Social Media Wants to Help You

Hello I am Diana and I am a Social Media Queen.

If you are new to social media or if you would like to improve your social media skills, I have some ideas that will work for you.

You are your own unique person. You are your own specialized business. What do you love to do? SunRain loves and is great at web development, photography, and film. Within these three categories is a plethora of information. All levels of users need this information. You have the information. Give the people what they need. Great content is priceless.

Your website provides all the basic content someone needs to know about your company. This is static. But in order to be interactive, your website also needs to provide valuable content about areas in your industry. Be dynamic.

What do you talk about?

You talk about what people want to know. You share what you have learned from others. Talk about the news, reviews, trending ideas, and events in your industry.

Ideas:
Video tutorials
PDF downloads
Reviews to help your readers make decisions
Other people's success stories
Survey your audience and provide reports
Launch a short contest with guest judges, prizes, and an award badge for the winner's website
Commend someone in the industry for their achievements
Post upcoming events
Guest articles by experienced and successful peers

After you have posted, what do you do?

Tell everyone. The two primary social media tools that I use are www.Twitter.com and www.Facebook.com. They are the most effective social media tools. If you use anything else, and it uses a Twitter or a Facebook app, use it. My new favorite is www.Instagram.com because you are able to make a creative photo and post it instantly. This is great for traveling, meeting with clients, or attending/speaking at conferences. It literally is a social media app. I love Twitter because you are limited to 140 characters. You have 140 characters to give your readers what they want effectively. I love Facebook because you can share article links that shows a thumbnail image and a short summary of the article. According to www.google.com/analytics the most visitors to my photography website are from Twitter and Facebook.

Post sparingly. Post in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Monitor Google Analytics to see if the links are accessed at the time of tweets. Know who is following you. Where are they from? It would be most effective to post during their time zones. Grow your following. @mentions are very important so reply to followers who talk to you. Thank them for retweeting or reposting a link you posted. Interact with the other people in your industry and their followers will follow you. Your website will become a round table for a stronghold and a wealth of information.

The keyword isn't social marketing. The key word is social media. Remember, give without expecting anything in return and you will stand out.

Here is something you've always wanted to know, How Twitter was born: http://www.140characters.com/2009/01/30/how-twitter-was-born

Enjoy!
